We are looking for a Garden Maintenance and Landscaping Technician to join a growing team based in Longstanton, working in and around Cambridge. You will prepare and plant garden schemes, designed by the company, to an extremely high standard. Sylvia Newman Garden Design Ltd is a garden architecture business offering clients complete turnkey design and build services. We are market leaders in the Cambridge area, creating high end gardens from concept to creation.
We provide a full garden design service from consultancy through to design, planting and build. We accept commissions for both private and commercial clients and approach each new project with our signature commitment to style and excellence.

2 OUR OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Garden Maintenance and Landscaping Technician to join a growing team based in Longstanton, working in and around Cambridge. You will prepare and plant garden schemes, designed by the company, to an extremely high standard. You will also take responsibility for some regular client maintenance visits, taking care of and managing their designed gardens while working to ensure consistently high standards in line with our Company ethics.

Other key tasks include:

•    Garden maintenance with varying tasks according to the season and in line with an agreed plan;
•    Pre-planning jobs for each garden and keeping accurate records;
•    Taking responsibility for general upkeep of equipment, company van, storage units, etc;
•    Assisting with knowledge and skills transfer, leading to overseeing and monitoring progress for a trainee member of staff

This is a busy role which requires you to stay focused on the task in hand, using your initiative to identify and resolve problems and working to an extremely high standard while delivering excellent customer service and overall attention to detail
The successful applicant must have knowledge of horticultural practices and standards relating to border preparation and planting, a keen interest in horticulture and previous similar experience. You will also have the following attributes:

•    Professional attitude and communication skills with the ability to cultivate good relationships with clients
•    Strong organisation skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple jobs in a day

•    Attention to detail and able to keep accurate records
•    Computer literate and the use of a smart phone
•    Self-motivated and willing to learn
•    Ability to work well independently, efficiently and to a high standard
•    Flexible and able to adapt to working with other teams as required
•    Have a full clean driving licence and access to own transport (company van provided for client visits)

Experience with hedge cutting and strimming equipment is essential. Desirable qualifications include RHS levels 1 and 2, PA 1 and 6 spraying certificates, trailer licence and holding a CSCS card. This role requires a good level of physical fitness and involves heavy lifting at times.
